Ground Perfume Oil Reviews

Thank you BH and Serene for sending me the Serene Ground Perfume as part of the August Discovery Bag.

The natural perfume was housed in a white cardboard box with a matt look and feel. It has a mint green coloured panel on the front, top and base of the box and text in black ink.

Out of the box comes a glass cylinder which houses the perfume oil. The simplistic label style is printed in black ink and a silver coloured screw top lid. When the lid is removed you expose a silver colour ball which is the rollerball dispenser.

The perfume colour is yellow and is a light weight and fluid.

The scent is woody and I can distinguish the scents or coriander and fir trees and grapefruit which are label. I am not sure if I can distinguish frankincense or vetiver and I will be completely honest about it and tell you that it is probably because I have no idea what they smell like... Overall the scent is unique and I am liking it more with use.

The oil is light and soaks into my skin. At first I applied to scent to my wrists and the scent only lasted a few hours. Therefore I tried other areas and still the scent lasted a few short hours.

Starting off, this perfume comes in a relatively small bottle – an absolutely perfect size for handbags, on-the-go or for overnight bags. It is a rollerball style and it is meant to be applied topically to the skin/pulse points.

Full disclaimer that maybe this was not the type of product for me from the beginning... I personally do not like rollerballs as I don’t like putting any perfumes/scents (whether they be natural or not) directly on my skin as I don’t want any reaction from any incidental sun exposure and I would much rather spray perfume directly on my clothes instead. For that reason, I would love if this product/brand came with the option of spray tops.

When it comes to the scent, I do personally like it; though I see it being used more-so as a room fragrance rather than a perfume. I think that view comes from the earthiness that this scent gives. I like the citrus undertones that the grapefruit brings, but combined with the other notes this perfume edges towards a woodland type of scent and I just personally associate that smell with a homely space. So, oddly enough, I decided to try and pop some of this fragrance in an oil burner/diffuser as it claims to only contain essential oils, and alas – it worked beautifully and I think I will use the bottle up this way. That being said, I don’t find the notes of the fragrance hang around long and that makes me feel as though maybe the essential oils are diluted too much with the jojoba oil that is used as the carrier oil.

I would recommend this to any rollerball lovers who need something to put in their purse and those who also really like earthy (with notes of citrus) types of scents. If not, this is not the product for you.

I have to admit i haven't really tried perfume oils before, so jumped at the chance to try this. I received the Ground oil, a mix of frankincense, vetiver, siberian fir, douglas fir, coriander and grapefruit. This earthy scent is to assist with feeling centred and grounded. I loved the scent, it comes in a handy 10ml roller so perfect to fit into my bag. I'm impressed that during the day i could still smell the scent on my wrists, i loved that it wasn't overpowering.

I received this in the August Discovery Bag (thanks BH). Serene (who I hadn’t heard of before) is a “beauty, wellness and lifestyle brand” although they only seem to make perfume oils (and a diffuser). They are based in Melbourne and their products are 100% natural, vegan, cruelty free and contain no alcohol.

The Ground Perfume Oil comes in a 10ml rollerball, it is clear glass with a plant silhouette on it. I thought it should perhaps be in brown glass to preserve it - it does say to keep out of direct sunlight. The perfume itself is very yellow.

This perfume oil is called a woodland scent and I think I would agree with that. It has warm earthy base notes of frankincense and vetiver with fresh woody, earthy and sweet middle notes of Douglas and Siberian Fir. The top note is grapefruit and there is also Coriander. The carrier oil is jojoba.

I can pick the pine (fir) scent but I’m not familiar enough with frankincense and vetiver to identify them. I think I can pick up the grapefruit but not the coriander. I usually apply it to my wrists in the morning although have tried a few other areas of skin. I put some in my elbow as this doesn’t get washed during the day and the scent lasted at least several hours, even after that there was a very faint smell for a few hours more. You can’t spray it on clothes obviously which I think is where scent often lingers.

It hasn’t left my skin oily, even though it is 100% oils and I’ve had no reaction (expected as I’m not sensitive to many things). I think I might try it on some pieces of card and put them in my clothes drawers although I will make sure they dry first so as not to mark my clothes.

The scents in this are supposed to let you find your path and feel centred and grounded, while relaxing your body and creating clarity, and giving a gentle lift to embrace your day with purpose. I can’t say it did any of this but I think that if this is your thing then it might work for you - I’m too much of the logical scientist.

This isn’t a scent I would buy for myself although I have enjoyed wearing it (no one has commented in these socially distance times). It’s quite unisexual but the pine smell makes it feel a bit like disinfectant. It costs $50 from the website and has a 12 month opened shelf life.
