When Mum was alive, my family found it almost impossible to buy original gifts for her. She wasn't into flowers, scented candles, beauty products etc. The best we came up with was to take her out to lunch or dinner (which she appreciated).

My mum's not really into gifts - all she requires is a nice card & some acknowledgment of the day. I think she'd rather me bake her her favourite cake (orange & white chocolate) than buy her something she might never use.
