How-to: smell lovely for less

So you really want a perfume but you just can’t afford it? Why not make your own! Homemade fragrances can smell just as lovely as the real thing but they only cost a fraction of the price – and if you (or your nana) has a pretty decent flowerbed handy, you can usually make one for free
!
Here’s how…
Making your own perfume
What you’ll need:
½ cup of rose petals
¼ cup lavender flower petals
½ cup of water
A mortar and pestle
A strainer
A funnel
A small spray bottle
Step 1: Combine all the flower petals in the mortar and grind up with the pestle until all mushy.
Step 2: Add in water and mix well.
Step 3: Using your strainer and funnel, strain into the spray bottle.
Step 4: Shake the bottle up well to mix the scent then spritz as much and as often as you like for an instantly sweet, fresh scent that smells like you’ve just been rolling in a bed of flowers! Heavenly!

I have to be honest I think I prefer to buy my perfume rather than make one.

not sure how this would work, probably better off just popping into nearest shop and buying one of the $10 perfumes?

That sounds like a fun thing to do over the Christmas holidays if you have daughters ... or nieces ... or just to do yourself! I'd like the rose version best :D

How interesting. I've never considered making my own fragrances. I do love natural perfumes so its worth a try. I think they would make pretty homemade gifts too.

I don't like lavender and don't imagine I would like this recipe unless I just remove the lavender altogether. I love rose though.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I'd substitute something else though since I don't really like lavender or rose.
