When Gordon met Vivienne
Most designers have one make-up look for their models, not four.
But then Vivienne Westwood isn’t most designers; she’s the reigning queen of the London scene and has been for many years. Such is her power that she can woo an estranged-Stones wife back to the catwalk at the age of 53. (On a sidenote how holy-heart-failure HOT did Miss Jo look? If it weren’t for the abundance of lace I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between snaps of her at the weekend and back in ‘85.)
But back to Viv and her four looks. So, why four? Well, the looks are “inspired by girls in different high school cliques” says make-up artist Gordon Espinet. So Mean Girls. So love it already.
Look 1 was all about the eyes. We would go for MAC Eye Kohl in Phone Number (a smudgy charcoal) and lashings and lashings (did we mention lashings?) of MAC Pro Lash in Coal Black – the exact one Gordon used don’t you know.
Look 2 again kept it natural and matte on the face and then rocked a ‘50s winged eye using MAC Fluidline in Blacktrade.
Look 4 was classic Westwood: a dark gothic lip courtesy of MAC Pro Lipstick in Full Chocolate. (Bh also recommends Australis Moisture Max Lipstick in Chocolate Mousse.)
Hey, in these tight times, we may not be able to afford a tartan Westwood frock but we can afford to channel her smokin’ hot make-up looks. So which girl are you?
