Four ways to change your look using lipstick

Applying a coat of lipstick is one of the fastest and easiest ways to change up your look. Don't believe me? Just ask Jennifer Lopez. She knows all about the power of a colourful lippie. I mean, she's usually a one-trick pony when it comes to make-up. (Her signature look is a classic smoky eye and nude lip combo, after all.) However, here she's taken 10 seconds to apply a bold watermelon red lipstick and the result is phenomenal. Refreshing, even.
Jennifer Lopez's brave entry into the world of colourful make-up has inspired us. Big time. And in the spirit of beautyheaven's own makeover (doesn't she look fresh, pretty and clean?), we've decided to showcase four different lipstick hues that will completely change your look, instantly. And obviously, we're encouraging you to do the same...
THE LIP COLOUR: a pearly nude
WHAT WE USED: Savoir Faire Lipstick in Miss You
THE RESULT: a natural yet chic finish.
This pearlescent hue is ideal for those first-timers moving away from a clear gloss, and is also the perfect partner to a dark bronze or charcoal smoky eye.
THE LIP COLOUR: a rich wine-like berry
WHAT WE USED: ck one color Pure Color Lipstick in Glorious
THE RESULT: a glamorous, wintry look.
Perfect for the cooler months, this hue is a little more on-trend than the always-classical red, and looks absolutely outstanding when paired with a subtly bronzed face.
THE LIP COLOUR: a tangerine orange
WHAT WE USED: Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Sizzle
THE RESULT: a fun, frivolous finish.
If an intense matte orange lippie is too daunting for you, ease yourself into this playful look with a more sheer, glossier formula like we have. Add a touch of peach blush onto the apples of your cheeks to complete the look.
THE LIP COLOUR: a plummy purple
WHAT WE USED: L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Colour in Milady
THE RESULT: a more daring winter look.
Similar to the berry family, plummy hues are best worn during the cooler months, as they are pigment-heavy, rich and intense. They do wonders for the eyes, and leave you looking expensive and glamorous, but with a slightly quirky finish.
So, there you have it – four different lipstick hues, four different make-up looks. If your beauty look needs a little update, why not make like J.Lo (and us!) and wear a bold lippie? It'll make you feel splendid, we promise.
Do you use lipstick to instantly update your beauty look? Which colour is your favourite to wear? And what do you think of Jennifer Lopez's bright pout?

I have recently become a huge lipstick fan and I do love bright hues. I tend to go with pinks, and pinky orange is one I currently love.

I am not bold enough to wear such a strong colour, I usually go for a nude or pale colour.

I'm not a lipstick girl at all - I much prefer lipstain and a balm/gloss over the top.

I love lipstick and I literally have dozens. It is such an easy way to change your look even if you stick with the same eye look. My current favourite is my newest (of course)...a glorious plummy shade. I wear pretty much any colour though. In the warmer weather I switched between orange, fuchsia and baby pink depending on my mood. I always think Jennifer Lopez looks amazing.

I usually go for bright pink, peach and coral but I'm loving the look of the L'Oreal Milady plummy shade, might have to get a few deeper, darker shades now that the weather is cooling off.

Lipstick is my favourite makeup item. So pleased to see JLo wear colour on her lips for a change - makes a huge difference. I love red lipstick.

Friday night after work drinks - coat a lippy and it completely makes over my look from simple office to going out. Love the tangerine colour btw Cherie!

Great comparison showing you wearing different shades of lipstick - it truly does change your look! The plummy is definitely for winter and I also love the rich wine-like berry lipstick on you too. I think your tangerine/orange lipstick (Revlon's Sizzle) would look great, if not better that J Lo's watermelon red shade. I like a plum/red wine shade during the winter months and a brighter red in summer.

Exactly. I do tend towards the same colours but will go lighter or more bold colours depending on my mood.

Changing my lipstick is probably the most common way I go to change my makeup looks. I only wish I could carry off baby pinks etc - the "nudest" I can go without looking like a corpse is a cinnamon-y tone, despite being a pale ranga! I love wearing bold, vampy lips particularly in Autumn/Winter.

I do like a bright lippy sometimes just to liven up my face or to match a top/accessory. I love the lip colour JLo is wearing, but not so much her eye makeup.

Love bright lip sticks but it is a shame I am still in school so I can't wear them but I could get away with the first lip colour love it too! But you also have to be careful with what eye and face make up you wear so your don't look overdone. Cherie is a very beautiful woman and can rock any of those colours with her flawless skin, sparkling eyes and beautiful hair. I think she needs to spill the beans on how she gets her skin so perfect! Thanks Cherie xx

Wow I do love how you seem to be able to pull off wearing these different shades. I wish my lips looked half as good, you are very pretty Cherie. I can't believe how baby face you look with nude lips. I love wearing brighter shades with purple or wine tones. SandraXxX
