Four ways to change your look using lipstick

Applying a coat of lipstick is one of the fastest and easiest ways to change up your look. Don't believe me? Just ask Jennifer Lopez. She knows all about the power of a colourful lippie. I mean, she's usually a one-trick pony when it comes to make-up. (Her signature look is a classic smoky eye and nude lip combo, after all.) However, here she's taken 10 seconds to apply a bold watermelon red lipstick and the result is phenomenal. Refreshing, even.
Jennifer Lopez's brave entry into the world of colourful make-up has inspired us. Big time. And in the spirit of beautyheaven's own makeover (doesn't she look fresh, pretty and clean?), we've decided to showcase four different lipstick hues that will completely change your look, instantly. And obviously, we're encouraging you to do the same...
THE LIP COLOUR: a pearly nude
WHAT WE USED: Savoir Faire Lipstick in Miss You
THE RESULT: a natural yet chic finish.
This pearlescent hue is ideal for those first-timers moving away from a clear gloss, and is also the perfect partner to a dark bronze or charcoal smoky eye.
THE LIP COLOUR: a rich wine-like berry
WHAT WE USED: ck one color Pure Color Lipstick in Glorious
THE RESULT: a glamorous, wintry look.
Perfect for the cooler months, this hue is a little more on-trend than the always-classical red, and looks absolutely outstanding when paired with a subtly bronzed face.
THE LIP COLOUR: a tangerine orange
WHAT WE USED: Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Sizzle
THE RESULT: a fun, frivolous finish.
If an intense matte orange lippie is too daunting for you, ease yourself into this playful look with a more sheer, glossier formula like we have. Add a touch of peach blush onto the apples of your cheeks to complete the look.
THE LIP COLOUR: a plummy purple
WHAT WE USED: L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Colour in Milady
THE RESULT: a more daring winter look.
Similar to the berry family, plummy hues are best worn during the cooler months, as they are pigment-heavy, rich and intense. They do wonders for the eyes, and leave you looking expensive and glamorous, but with a slightly quirky finish.
So, there you have it – four different lipstick hues, four different make-up looks. If your beauty look needs a little update, why not make like J.Lo (and us!) and wear a bold lippie? It'll make you feel splendid, we promise.
Do you use lipstick to instantly update your beauty look? Which colour is your favourite to wear? And what do you think of Jennifer Lopez's bright pout?

Lippies are definitely the best to warm and brighten up the face! But what's protocol when you eat food? Wipe it off onto your serviette, or just slowly.. eat it? I don't like the idea of my lipstick being half smudged and half there

I love lipstick and if I am in a hurry that is the only bit of make up that I use. I like Berry colours or pinks depends on what I am wearing. I am fair skinned and cannot wear pale colours, as they completely wash me out.

I enjoy wearing soft beige pinks. At most I'd wear a faint red tint or stain but not a full on right pout. Brights just doesn't suit me :)

They all look great. I tend towards the same colours all the time, choosing favourite lipsticks regularly. Should look at a change.

They all look great but I think i"m a little boring because I like the nude one best :-) Probably because I've got really thin lips and am not comfortable with lipstick that's too bright . . like Skitzkitty I prefer a stain with gloss over it.

I would love to sport a deeper shade of lipstick. Berry, plum all those gorgeous colours. But I just find whenever I try to, they look horrid on me. A nude colour always seems to work best. I guess that's just the way my face is. Or maybe I need to consult an expert! :)

Love lipstick! I love how it can completely change and dress up a look but also how great I feel when I swipe it on! Really boosts my confidence

i love the look of statement / bright lipstick on others but tend to chicken out on wearing it myself, i keep trying over and over to see if i can pull it off.

For me who is not really a lipstick wearer i would go for the nude look. I do like some of the others but they just dont work for me. I love the way J Lo looks but i dont have her looks nor features

Cheri, you look good in everything (though the nude really suits you). As for me, I struggle to find the perfect lippie, but a deep brownie coral seems to do the trick. Like to swap it out for lighter coral or plum sometimes though.

I tend to favour mauvey pinks, but I also love corals & peaches, and have even plunged into browns, magentas, purples & nudes - seem to be getting braver as I get older, but I'm still super selective when it comes to reds, gotta be extra careful or I look like a clown. Adore JLo's vibrant lips in this pic, and Cherie you look glorious in CK One's Glorious!

I love lipsticks, lip glosses, any lip products... My current favourite is Revlon JBK balm stain in Adore. It's a nice brick red not too bright but nice enough to give that pop of colour.
