Maybelline FIT me! Shine Free Foundation Stick Trial Team
50 women aged between 18 and 30 with normal to combination or oily skin. Testers were concerned about oily skin and shine.
Star rating during this trial*:
The newest addition to the FIT me! range, the Shine Free Foundation Stick, contains anti-shine properties to leave a matte finish on skin while the formula allows skin to breathe.
Overall, members found the foundation was easy to blend – both with their fingers and with a brush – and that it left a soft, matte finish on their skin. It felt powdery, but didn’t look caked on. A few members did comment that any dry patches were enhanced by the foundation, stating that this product is definitely suited to those with combination or oilier skin.
Members found that the foundation felt very light on their skin and gave light to medium coverage, which suited some, while those who had blemishes or acne found they required a bit more coverage.
In terms of shine control, most members found the stick foundation helped keep the oil at bay for a few hours, but some members did find that after a few hours the shine reappeared. Many commented they were interested in how the product would fare in winter when the weather won’t be so hot.
Testers also found the stick easy to use and the tube packaging handy to carry around for touch-ups during the day.
“The foundation stick was actually a lot easier to apply than I thought it would be. It just glided on, didn't tug on skin or anything, and blending the foundation is actually very easy, leaving a nice smooth base. It wasn’t cakey either.” – dream-angels. Read more…
“The product applied easily and it is very easy to smooth and blend with your fingertips; I found no need for a brush at any time. The coverage is medium but buildable to full. After full application, my face looked smooth and flawless.” – aweedz. Read more…
“I remember using my mother's foundation stick as a kid and it was overly cakey, dry and thick. This one, however, is a polar opposite! The shade I chose suited me perfectly, and as soon as I rolled it onto my skin I could tell it was going to be a great, lightweight foundation.” – Kellyt1992. Read more…
“The foundation made my skin look so flawless and airbrushed, although I don't really use foundation much it does even out my skin tone, redness and imperfections. It does absorb excess oil due to the little light powder-stick in the middle.
However, it did need touchups with powder around the T-zone during the day. Overall a great quality, affordable stick foundation that can be easily used on the go for a flawless, fresh finish to your skin!” – xochristii98. Read more…
“The foundation was smooth and fused into my skin well, I was surprised that it did not cake my skin. However I did notice it emphasised dry patches I did have on my forehead.” – KaynJay. Read more…
