Watch this space: next season's hot hues

Everyone knows that Australian trends normally start overseas a season before they hit our shores. Yep, we look to our European friends to discover which trends we may be rocking in the upcoming seasons. It's our chance to get ahead of the pack and get knee deep into some of the colour crazes that we’ll be loving in a few months - and you can think of me as your London-based  guide.

So while Australia is shivering away in thick socks and comfy uggs, Londoners are embracing the summer sun (and the Olympic spirit) and showcasing bright, vibrant hues that are sure to put a little spring in your step.

HOT LONDON SUMMER TREND #1: Neon fuchsia

Now I know this hue is already big as a nail hue in Oz, but it's really taking Londoners by storm this summer. Though it is perfection as a nail hue, many Londoners are choosing to rock a full-on neon lip with minimal make-up to accompany it. Think flawless skin with just a sweep of mascara and a show-stopping set of kissers. We love ck one color Pure Color Lipstick in Wanted for a truly pigmented, vibrant finish.

It's not just make-up products that suit this shade, I've seen many Londoners rocking run-of-the-mill black and white outfits and lifting them with a neon fuchsia necklace or a seriously bright pair of sandals. Braver babes are even choosing to try entire pieces in the shade, such as jeans and slimline summer dresses. Wowza!

HOT LONDON SUMMER TREND #2: Turquoise
Fear not, I'm not going to tell you that Europeans have just discovered the benefits of a turquoise kiss. You're safe from bluey-green pouts (for the meantime). I did however spot a dreamy turquoise line over the eyes of a group of British schoolgirls on the tube the other day and it stopped me in my tracks. Never one to consider a shot of colour that bright on a school day, I was surprised at just how great it looked! A cream pencil would do the job perfectly, and I recommend using essence Kajal (Kohl) Pencil in aqua and keeping it as close to your top lash line as possible to keep it chic and sharp.

Not ready to rock such a bright eye hue? That's okay! You'll be glad to know that turquoise jewellery is making quite the comeback, too. Simply stroll down Portobello Road Market to see what I mean. You'll find turquoise rings, bracelets and necklaces as far as the eye can see. (Minus the two or three that I snapped up!) Get ready, Australia!

HOT LONDON SUMMER TREND #3: Rose gold
Are you known to struggle between gold and silver? Many of us have jewellery in both finishes and deciding which one to go with each day can often be a struggle. The great news? The introduction of rose gold into the shops has made it all a little bit easier to deal with - and London is well and truly jumping on the shiny bandwagon.

The warmest of the three, rose gold, beats gold and silver in the trend stakes as its vintage charm continues to make style-seekers swoon. Seen all through stores such as Topshop and H&M in the form of bracelets, rings, watches and necklaces, I'm thrilled to announce that even shoe-makers are adopting this on-trend element and adding it to their pieces. Yep, shoe shopping just got even more exciting!
