The most flattering shades for blue eyes

Fun fact about me: I have dark brown eyes, even though my dad has piercing blue ones. Sometimes (roughly three times a week), I’ll blame him entirely for not passing on those beautiful blues to me. The fact that the blue eye gene is recessive means nothing to me.
Anyway, where am I going with this? Although I wasn’t blessed with gorgeous baby blues, many of you were, and while I’m incredibly jealous and would do just about anything to swap eyeballs (don’t worry, I don’t think it’s possible. Yet.), there’s nothing that I want more than for you to be wearing eye make-up that makes your peepers pop more than they already do.
BEST EYESHADOW FOR BLUE EYES
If you’re looking to intensify your eyes (so make them stand out a whole lot more), opt for shades like burnt orange, terracotta, bronze, beige, gold, and light pink. Orange-based hues may seem like a scary thought, but because orange and blue sit directly opposite each other on the colour wheel (see? kindergarten wasn’t so useless after all), the strong contrast does ah-mazing things for your eyes.
P.S.: If you want to do a smoky eye, use a neutral palette of browns, gold and light pinks instead of the usual blacks, charcoals and silvers to balance your blue eyes.
Try:
Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo Shadow in Fierce and Tangy.
Almay intense i-Color Satin Kit for Blue Eyes.
Glo minerals Eye Shadow Trio in Sweet ‘n’ Spicy.
Minerologie Mineral Eye Shadow in Kiss-Me.
If you’re looking for eyeshadow shades to complement your eyes, then you need to take into account the type of blue eyes you have.
For warm blue eyes
Warm blue eyes have a hint of green and dark grey in them, just like Blake Lively and Olivia Wilde. The shades that’ll complement your eyes best are turquoises, teals, and even mint and moss greens. Look for eyeshadows that are on the green side of blue or have a bit of a grey tone to them.
Try:
jane iredale PurePressed® Eye Shadow in Magic.
Models Prefer Mineral Eye Shadow Quad.
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Colour in Azure.
MeMeMe Dew Pot in Silent Storm.
For cool blue eyes
Cool blue eyes have more purples and light greys in them and can be described as icy. Alexis Bledel and Barbara Palvin’s eyes are perfect examples. The shades that’ll suit cool blue eyes best are light greys, royal, navy and dark blues, as well as anything with a hint of violet in it.
Try:
Couleur Caramel Eyeshadow in Pearly Violet Blue.
Physcians Formula Shimmer Strips in Smoky Eyes
Mirenesse Superlong Wear Gel Mineral Face Colour in Denim Jewel.
Designer Brands ElectrifEYE Metallic Crème in Neptune.

Discovered that purple plum (my lip tint from Kyaer Weis) makes my grey blue pop so much! Not with browns or bronzes at all. As my skin is so warm, just brings out the skin, not the eyes (on a not very flattering way)

I love the shades in the Almay pallette. I used to wear a lot of mints in my younger days. I now revert back to coppers and other like colours for an everyday look.

Great tips! I like to wear the bronze colours in summer, and the browner shades in winter. Will have to try pink and orange though.
