Beauty tips: How to use tinted brow gel
There are so many different brow products available. And while eyebrow pencils are fairly easy to figure out, brow gel (or brow mascara) can be rather confusing. What is its purpose? And isn’t mascara for lashes? It is, but brow mascara is a completely different product with its own, very important purpose.
Tinted brow gel is used to set your brows in place, add depth and keep them perfectly shaped all day. Plus, if your brows are sparse you can use brow gel to bulk them up, faking fuller brows.

For sparse brows, brush the front of the brows up, and then brush the tail down. For natural-looking brows, simply brush upwards!
I used the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows in Linda ($39, charlottetilbury.com)
Here are a few of our members favourite tinted brow gels:
Garbo & Kelly Brow Gel
“This product is such a godsend! I use it every day to slick down by brows and let me tell you once this product is on it stays on! The brow gel is clear and comes in a tube with a spoolie applicator. The applicator ensures that just the right amount of product comes out so you don't end up looking like you're into a greasy brow look.”. -bh’s Sam

LUMA Beyond The Brow Grooming Gel with Fibres
“I purchased the Beyond the Brow Grooming Gel in 'Medium Brown' and I can't get enough! It is the perfect colour to match my brows and by natural hair colour. The application couldn't be easier - with an inbuilt brush you don't even need to prep your brows. Just swipe it on in the direction of your brow hairs until you have reached the desired look. Once it's dried it lasts all day. This gel doesn't particular smell nice but the smell is not strong at all & is only noticeable if you purposely smell it. The packaging is simply perfect - a small tube with a twist off brush on one end.” - bh member APounder

Benefit Gimme Brow+
“I was never into filling my eyebrows on but one of my friend had this product and we were going out, she filled them in for me. At first i was a little unsure about the product but after seeing photos of me with my brows filled in i fell in love with this product straight away. I ended up buying this product and really love that i am able to use it lightly to have a natural look or when i'm going out i am able to really build it up so my brows really shape my face.
It's easy to apply with the gel at one end and the brow brush at the other - you are able to apply it and then brush through giving it a very even tone.” - bh member MikaelaaBrennan

I've used the Napoleon Perdis Clear Brow Gel which has worked wonders, but I have been a bit lazy as of late! I hate eye products only lasting 3mos it's such a waste for people like me who don't use it every day.

For some reason I can’t watch the video. I use a brow gel. I have used Benefit Gimme Brow. It was great, but it’s very expensive. I’m currently using a Mecca brand one.

I love trying different brow products, the colour is the most important, but how it goes on and looks is essential too

I've never tried a brow gel, only a powder, so maybe it's time to switch.

I always use a brow gel, they look so much more natural than pencils. I like Benefit or ModelCo brow gel.

Have only one, been gifted Benefit. Used never. Expired I think. Unsure that I need anything for brows. They just never change shape, never go 'unruly', and have plenty of hair.

I like the look of the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows as its applicator seems smaller than most brow gels on the market.

Shaving, waxing or over-plucking eyebrows has always been a problem as they never do return properly. Young girls just don't realize this and don't listen to mum either. My daughter had hers waxed far to thin and now she just has a thin line. I am so sad when I look at them but don't say anything, no point in it. I have very fair eyebrows which were a good shape when I was young so only a couple of stragglers needed removing but even now they are getting more sparse and maintaining a nice shape becomes more challenging and I don't like drawing on eyebrows with a pencil. The video is great for those with lush brows.

I would have thought shaving wouldn’t cause sparse growth...

As young teenager I did the most stupid thing I shaved around my eyebrows, boy am I sorry I ever did that my brows grow all over the place and I am forever trying to make them look right. Lucky thing I am fair and my brows are not that dark .Watching the video was good as I can get a few tips that should help me. But be warned. Never EVER shave your brows...

I use a clear brow gel after filling in with a pencil or crayon and the gel keeps my brows in place. I forgot the brand but I bought it from Priceline for less than $10.

My brows disappeared after chemo about 20 years ago, and came back very thin and sparse. I have been using a brow pencil for quite a long time, but did not know about the brow gel until I read these comments. I will check out Priceline to see if they have a smokey grey or similar, as I now have white/grey hair and other colours look weird!
