What is your opinion on this?
I wear glasses for short distance so I need to wear them for driving and watching television. I'm quite interested in eye correction surgery myself however I'm a little scared of having my eyes poked at and scared of something going wrong. It costs roughly about $2,000 + per eye (price varies).
A number of Optometrists I used to work with had lasik done and loved it. They say your vision may be blurry for a couple of days after but most of them did not experience this for longer than a few hours.
If you want to get it done I suggest you find a reputable clinic that specializes in lasik. There are a couple in Brisbane that do nothing but this procedure so you can be pretty confident they know what they're doing as it is all they do. Just remember once you hit your 40's your sight will still deteriorate until you need glasses for reading, which can't be corrected with lasik, but at least you'll only need one pair of specs. lol
What is lasik?
And like BO I'm scared of having my eyes played with (I won't wear contacts unless I'm ordered to!) - if something goes wrong I'll never get my vision back!
I wear glasses for night driving or for long periods in front of the computer. One of my eyes is short-sighted, the other the opposite - weird huh!
No not weird. sometimes your eyes just try to compensate each other. Lasik is laser surgery. It's quite safe and has a lot more years behind it now so outcomes like risks and benefits and complications are fairly well researched and documented. If you don't mind wearing specs then don't even worry about it. some specs are gorgeous.
I think laser is great if you can afford it but I think im too squirmish to get it done. My friend had it done and said it was scary sitting back in the chair unable to move when you can smell your eyes burning, but she can see perfectly now
i wish i could see perfectly. Its frustrating at times. I might look into lasik later on.
I'd love to have 20/20 vision too :)
I think it laser surgery sounds unreal!!! We just can't afford it! Does anyone know if there is a health fund out there that actually rebates for this health issue? We are in a health fund but it doesn't rebate these things.
im depressed...im 23 and still my vision goes worse from year to year...nearly -6 and one eye started developing astigmatism....everytime i go to optometrist i get tearful.....i work with computers too so i feel like no escape for me....i wish i could have a stable vision if ill remain at -6 i wont touch the eyes but if it goes worse ill def consider the surgery
My brother had laser eye surgery and said it was the best thing her ever done, and wished he'd had it done sooner.
I have astigmatism as well, but havent looked into it just yet, because of the cost factor.
-6, oh boy msrussia that sucks. you'd have to pay a fortune for lenses just to get a decent edge thickness. i don't know what you use but i always loved Hoya and Rodenstock lenses. they are expensive but absolutely fabulous. if it were me at -6 i would save for the surgery. lol :)
i wear glasses and feel naed without them, too scared to try laser was gonna get it a few years ago but chickened out, see the chair thing with the big machine rest thing scared the poop out of me noooo way
My friend had laser eye surgery last year, it was about $3000 per eye but she said it's the best thing she has ever spent her money on.
i am thinking of getting it done but i think my vision is getting worse. do you need to have a stable vision before surgery? i never knew it was this expensive too! :(
I'm not scared of the laser (I'd love to have it done) but I'm just scared of the bill afterward!!!!!
I'm going to get Laser eye surgery done in the near future. It apparently fixes your vision up until you're 40 or 50 when your eyes start naturally getting bad. The way i see it, you'd get a good couple of decades before you'll need to wear glasses again. Also, with glasses and contact lenses you cant go swimming or to the beach without having trouble. Only thing really, is the cost. I heard its about 5k per eye, but i think in the long run, its well worth it.
Its not that expensive. If you add up what it costs for all of the glasses and contacts. In the end its a cheaper option. No pain either.
Has anyone had any bad reactions / tales with laser eye correction?
ive heard with laser eye surgery you gegt bad long term results. anyone actually done it?
My son works in this field and by the amount of people that have it done on a daily basis there must be something good about it. Funny though, I wear glasses, rather ironic isn't it.
A couple of my friends had lasik and they both RAVE about it. They both experienced some dryness after the procedure but that went away really quickly. I'm saving up for it now!
I was told you have to have stable vision before surgery. Planning to do mine soon. The price for contact lenses, solutions and glasses is just too much compared to lasik over a long term period. Will see how mine goes!!
I have astgmatism too, luckily it's not too bad, and I only need glasses for prolonged computer use, but some of my uncles got it done they had to wear seriously dark glasses afterwards, but they love it now :)
on the other hand I was speaking to a eye surgeon (outside of the 'office') he and his entire family wear glasses, so I would reason that if the people that do the surgery are not prepared to have the surgery done to themselves, why risk it yourself...
i wear prescitive contact lens, i cant see long distange, so im Myopia, pretty blind as a bat without them, my nan had laser surgery, at the moment i dont mind wearing contact lens and glasses i think i would consider laser surgery when im a bit older but i mean as technology continues to grow i think a few years to come they will present us with seomthing that gurantees us to see correct vision or soemthing but the thought of surgery at the moment for me kindar freaks me out
I feel the same about laser surgery. I've worn glasses and contact lenses since I was19 and I am short sighted with an astigmatism. I have often considered laser surgery but wonder if it would correct my vision faults andwould be long lasting. My vision deterioration seems to have stabilized over the last 5 years.
I received this Dermal lip balm in the latest Rewards Room and was at first disappointed it came in a 10g small pot as I thought I was getting the tube.
I have used collagen supplements, so taste wise I'm familiar with what I may be getting into. Opening the screw top jar up, I was initially hopeful.
I received this Natio Gentle Facial Cleansing Oil in the latest Rewards Room.
