Ingredients for pigmentation and sun spots?
Hi I'm looking for a serum or booster to get rid of pigmentation and dark spots caused by sun exposure. They're not extremely bad, but now that I'm 30 (ugh!) I decided to start a new skincare routine. I have all of the protective products, but none to address my current issue. I've seen this pigmentation pop up over the last 5 years, so I'm guessing it's from when I didn't use sunscreen daily from childhood to about 22.
My skin is really good otherwise (apart from a few forehead expression lines), so I'd really like to get back to the clear skin I had as a teenager.
I'm thinking of buying a few samples from Paula's Choice, before spending heaps on a full sized product.
What ingredients should I look for, and did they personally help you?
Thanks heaps! xx

Definitely feels effective
This product is based on plant stem cells! Such a great concept. Andalou is an American company, cruelty free and vegan, so good! Packaging is simole. And clean looking.
Delicious smell
I received this sunscreen from Beauty Heaven as part of
A trial (thank you beauty heaven)!
Does the job
Foot and heel balm plus.
First of all, thank you Beauty Heaven for letting me try this product!

I feel this also! I use a multitude of brightening serums and have found that they work really well for me in re-evening my skin tone and correcting pigmentations. The only thing is it will be different depending on your skin type.

Hi there,
In addition to wearing UPF clothing and a broad brimmed UPF 50 hat, I am using the following for pigmentation (melasma):
AM
Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 20%.
Glycerin mixed with: Bearberry extract & Liquorice extract or; Hada Labo Whitening Gel: Arbutin based (old formulation).
The Ordinary: Vitamin C 30% mixed w/ (TO: Ferulic acid) + Vitamin E oil.
The Ordinary: Niacinamide, mixed with CeraVe moisturiser.
Azclear: Azelaic Acid Lotion 20% (get a skin cancer screening before using as this can fade cancerous spots).
Natural Instinct: Tinted Sunscreen 30+ (to block visible light) or; Neutrogena: Sheer Zinc 50+
PM
Glycolic Foaming Cleanser 20%
Glycerin mixed with: Bearberry extract & Liquorice extract or; Hada Labo Whitening Gel: Arbutin based (old formulation)
The Ordinary: Vitamin C 30% mixed w/ (TO: Ferulic acid) + Vitamin E oil
The Ordinary: Niacinamide, mixed with CeraVe moisturiser
Azclear: Azelaic Acid Lotion 20%
Tretinoin 0.05% , applied 30 mins later.
Other than getting a kojic acid based product, I may try laser...
I'm hoping my pigmentation resolves over the next year.
Good luck on your journey; pigmentation is distressing at times...
Really a good Vitamin C serum will address pigmentation. A good one will be in an air tight container not a tub. Ole Henriksen had a good one, Truth Serum, which comes in a great set, Three Little Wonders. Using this set I saw my sun spots dramatically reduced. My favourite is the Drunk Elephant C-Firma, which is more expensive but last longer and you can buy a small version to try out, the little one lasted me around three weeks. I have tried The Ordinarys Vit C preparations but none have worked as well for me as the OH or DE.
Just a note that most Vitamin C serums are clear, if you buy one and it's already turned orange the Vitamin C is oxidised and no longer active. It has happened to me a handful of times and I have returned products to get something from a fresher batch. Vitamin C is quite unstable so it is hard to formulate in an active form and doesn't have a long shelf life. It is the only part of my skincare that I have found I really have to spend $$ on because cheaper alternatives just haven't worked for me.
I use vitamin C too, but i find that they are probably more for prevention of spreading of the pigmentation. I have not noticed reduction in my existing pigmentations. I am currently using the Kiehl's one.
