I’m interested in opinions on cleansing devices such as those made by Foreo and Clarisonic
For those of you who have used them, how do they compare to old fashioned finger cleansing?
Which models do you prefer?
Both devices give deeper cleansing than plain old fingers but there are slight differences between them.
For Clarisonic, the device is generally bulkier and require more frequent recharging from once a week to once a fortnight. Most brushes give deep cleansing and also help with exfoliation but can be a little harsh for sensitive skin. The brush heads need to be changed every 3-6 months. I have one for 3 years and still using it. Unsure what is the lifespan of the device.
For Foreo, the device is much smaller and a single recharge will last up to 3 months. The silicon brush is attached to the device and does not require change. The brush is also gentler on the skin and perfect for those with sensitive skin, but I always feel Clarisonic gives a more thorough clean. I have one which last me 3 years already but I read that the lifespan of the device will be between 3-5 years before the battery dies out.
Hope this helps.
I have not actually charged my foreo once after the initial overnight charge. I have had it for over a year.
I own a Skin Physics Dermasonic+ cleansing brush, which is similar to the Foreo. It's silicon so it doesn't harbour bacteria & never needs replacement brush heads. A single charge lasts months. From the very first time I used it, my complexion GLOWED! I could SEE a difference! I think the silicon type cleansing brushes are amazing!
I previously owned an Olay cleansing brush, with replaceable brush heads. Even this cheapie was miles ahead of my usual cleansing scrubs applied by hand.
In my opinion cleansing brushes really are superior to hand cleansing. I definitely favour the silicon type.
The Skin Physics Dermasonic+ is Bh listed here:

I should add that my skin is very tough & not prone to sensitivity. My oily skin is blackhead & blemish-prone. Perhaps this doesn't describe you?
Melasma, dry and sensitive skin this way...
Glad I asked then. Sensitivity can change things.
Agree... i think you might want to be careful with these devices on sensitive skin. My skin is quite robust, but yet found foreo for normal skin too strong for everyday use. I would have gone for foreo sensitive skin if I had known.
I use a Clarisonic. I love how there's different brush attachments that you can use, including a foundation brush. I notice a huge difference between my fingers and the Clarisonic. I get less blackheads on my nose and chin when I use my Clarisonic.
I have a foreo.
Do I like it? Yes. Is it a must? No.
I think it's a nice to have. It does cleanse skin deeper, but I don't use it every day anyway. I feel it's a little too much to use it every day. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, I genuinely think you can achieve a similar result with a gentle exfoliation.
I've been using Clarisonic for over three years. I personally can't live without it and it has really improved the clarity of my skin. I use it 5 nights out of 7, I used to use it every night but I've cut back since I started using retinol as I find my skin doesn't need so much exfoliation. I use the sensitive brush heads, the others don't work as well for my skin (I have dry/combination, non sensitive skin).
Mine only needs charging once a month, I found at the beginning I could go almost two months on a single charge.
I haven't used the Foreo, but I am thinking sometime next year I will take the plunge and try it out. I don't think I could go back to just using my fingers to cleanse my face.
i just ordered a foreo yesterday and am
looking forward to hopefully seeing some good results!
I don't have a Foreo or Clarisonic (yet) but cleansing brushes definitely give a deeper cleanse than using fingers alone to cleanse. I can't say which is the best cleansing device out of the two; I had my eye on Clarisonic for ages, after reading comparisons by reviewers & bloggers between the two I am very keen on trying the Foreo =)
Thank-you all for your advice!
I use a 20% Glycolic acid cleanser that I keep on for a few minutes before washing off.
I received the Dermalogica microfoliant as part of the BIB prize pack.
Was thinking of alternating the two then ultimately graduating to the Foreo...
I use the microfoliant every 2nd morning. I don't feel I need to use the foreo. On some nights I still do, just because I have it already. If you don't use the microfoliant then you can probably see more benefits from the foreo.
So Foreo have released the Foreo 3.
Until September 2019, it’s available exclusively through Mecca.
So here are my questions as I research it...
Is anyone considering purchasing it?
If so what do you think of the app driven aspect?
Is it easy to operate?
In your opinion, is it an accessible device for people with dexterity issues such as arthritis?
What is the battery life overall?
For those who own a Foreo 2, does it offer anything markedly different to the Foreo 2?
How does it compare to other cleansing devices?
Is it worth the extra money?
How does it feel against the face?
What do you think of the look and design overall?
What would you improve?
Do you use the anti-ageing side or just the cleansing side?
What’s the warranty like?
Is there are a good recycling programme?
As I purchased a LUNA 2 through the recent RR, my research is more out of “want” rather than “need”.
❤️☺️ Thanks Lovelies!
I’m probably going to cop some hate but they are a gimmick at best and bad for your skin at worst. Go to YouTube and the amount of qualified dermatologists who have made videos on why they are not good is huge.
I watched many as I was curious and wanted to buy and it certainly convinced me they are a waste of money and for my skin type in particular they are damaging. My skin even hates being wiped with cotton rounds so I don’t know why I ever thought a gadget was a good idea lol.
Expensive gimmick IMHO I’d rather spend my $$$ on good ingredient proven skincare.
A couple of dermatologists have recommended the Foreo over the Clarisonic.
I haven’t heard of any of them opine that a cleansing device is essential!!
After all, nothing wring with a soft flannel!
I swapped my points in the RR for the Luna 2 as I have limited dexterity and find it difficult to thoroughly cleanse my face.
I'm thinking the app on the Foreo 2 is a bit gimmicky.
Proven ingredients in skincare is where it’s at! ☺️
The Clarisonic certainly sounds like a nightmare and the FOREO non-essential for most people.
I was extremely impressed with this product.
Received the John Frieda Frizz-Ease® Dream Curls Curl Defining Crème at the Best in Beauty Marketplace.
I recently had the opportunity to trial the new Nivea sun sensitive 50+ sunscreen. The product comes in a good size harder tube with the lid at the top.
