Hi bh community,
Can someone reccomend some great skincare products like toners, masks and scrubs. And any cheap makeup products. It would be preferable if I could buy these at coles or Kmart etc.
dasha_nap, regarding skin care products, please let us know what your skin type is and if you have any skin issues. Do you prefer skin care products that have less synthetic chemicals?
The supermarkets and Kmart have lots of great budget cosmetics. What cosmetics are you looking for? If you're looking for foundation, do you have dry, oily or combination skin? Do you prefer a foundation that has light, medium or full coverage?
If you go through the directory of brands on BH, there are lots of reviews for budget brands. Here is a link to all of the brands on BH where you can read reviews:
I am a huge fan of NIVEA. They are well priced and can be purchased just about everywhere from Supermarkets to Department Stores to Pharmacies.
I'm really enjoying using Sukin products at the moment. I'd recommend putting a list together of skincare products you would like to try and purchase them when Priceline do their 40% off skincare offer. I usually do this and it's great because you can earn loyalty points at the same time.
For cheap skincare that you could buy at Coles, Woolies etc I recommend giving Essano or Swisse a try.
Swisse has a good hydrating mist toner it's cheap and sold in supermarkets pretty much everywhere.
They also have a manuka honey face mask which is a favourite here amongst quite a lot of BH members, for good reason! Definitely give that a try if your after a good, cheap deep cleansing mask.
Essano is also sold pretty much everywhere, also cheap, they have a lovely night creme and a pink clay mask that is divine!
It really comes down to your skin type and concerns, we need a little bit more info so we can pinpoint which product would be better for you.
Good luck with your search! xx
So many to choose from Dasha but be wary of Made in China ones as I think they are dirt cheap for a reason.
the garnier sheet masks are on sale at coles this week for $2.50! i just stocked up on them, they have a few different kinds to cater to your skin needs
Yes, they're a great price, millie-rosexo. I love the Black Algae one so I stocked up on those.
Millie you're a legend! So glad I saw this - I've been waiting for them to go half price for ages so I can hoard them LOOL!! xoxoxoxo!!
Check out The Ordinary for some potent skincare but at super small prices. You can get it at Priceline, Myer and a bunch of places online. They have guides on what products to use depending on your skin concerns. Also check out their foundation which is AMAZING and only around $12. For cheap makeup NYX you can get at Target and they have some great concealers, primers and lip products. Elf makeup seems always to be on sale at Kmart and their eyeshadows always seems to get good reviews for great pigment. Personally I find their colour range a bit limited and not warm enough for my preference, but if you like neutral shades they have a pretty good range. Rimmel also do really good pencil eyeliners. Maybelline Tatoo eyeshadows are also really good and you can usually get 40% or more off at Big W, Kmart etc.
check out nyxs primers and setting sprays
and for skincare try sukin
Definitely second the NYX recommendation for cheap yet decent makeup. Also Models Own is a great brand for cheap but good quality makeup that you can get from Priceline. I can't speak highly enough about their eyeshadow and highlighter palettes!
For cheap makeup I quite like Essence products and Savvy's ok too (Priceline). I've used MUD too which you can get at Woolies.
I agree with the Sukin recommendations. I particularly like their face masks and facial moisturisers.
I use the Biore charcoal face wash as well, and a neutrogena facial sunscreen.
Look out for when Coles/Woolies/Priceline/Big W/Target have 40% off sales, it's worthwhile to monitor!
Thx so much guys, I will definetly try some!
Lani06 they are very nice arent they!
I don't have a lot of experience with cheaper makeup brands but I have heard great things about Essence and Luma.
As to skincare, there are heaps of cheaper options that are great. I have generally good experiences on Swisse (face mist, moisturiser, facial oil), Goodness, Sukin (masks and oils). Some Essano products are not bad (cleanser & wipes).
I own and use a lot of the Luma range right now but I'm not sure I would classify it as budget-friendly, although it depends on the threshold of your budget. FYI though we're talking about $26-$40 for each product at Priceline and if you buy quite a few, that can stack up money-wise.
The Ordinary is probably the best budget-friendly skincare brand - the only downside being that you really should understand a bit about the products themselves and how to use them properly before diving into purchasing anything from the range.
Burts Bees is a good natural brand that comes to mind with good makeup and skincare offerings. I especially love their lipstick range.
Otherwise, other budget-friendly but good skincare brands are Aveeno, Sukin, Swisse, Simple, and Goodness.
Essano is just lovely for sensitive or dry skin. Their masque is so nice, skin feels so soft and hydrated after using it. Also don't mind the essano gel cleanser, gentle on sensitive skin. Their night moisturiser is also nice! Essano is very affordable, and if you wait you can usually get it on 40% special from Coles.
Also a fan of Sukin products. Their purely ageless range is really nice, but they have heaps of different ranges to suit various skin types. Can purchase at some coles stores I believe, or chemist warehouse stocks them too. Can also purchase online through chemist warehouse if you're not close to a store.
Hope this helps!
Chemist warehouse is doing a 50% off all Sukin at the moment.
Essence is ok. But Priceline does 50% off make up and skin care at times. Though I am not really fussed about the trend (I buy what suits me) so sometimes I can get clearance/ off season cheaper.
Goodness skincare is a wonderful cheap skincare line. I especially love their make-up break up balm!
I have struggled with every single bb cream I have ever tried as even the lightest shades are always too dark and orange for me. Finally, finally, a bb cream that is actually light and not orange!
This is pretty much a wet wipe.
It's individually packaged which is convenient, and easy to slip into my bag.
Sashapure hair mask
This mask was part of the last Rewards Room , it was an inspired choice.
