Best Gel Moisturiser?
Best Gel Moisturiser?
I am after a new gel moisturiser, i can't stand lotions or creams they feel far too heavy and make me want to wipe my face off as soon as i get home from work. I am currently using Kora Organics Moisturizer, but i think i prefer this at night. Previously i have used MAC Mineralize Charged Water Gel, i do really like this. But i wanted to try something else as i've been using it for quite awhile now. I have just recieved a sample of Chanel's Hydra Gel Creme. I do like this also, but i don't think it is Hydrating enough for me. I am considering Bobbi Browns Hydrating Gel Cream as it is suitable for people with oily skin, that also have dry patches! That's me!
I'd love to know what Gel you like to use or can recommend to me!

Every girls trial dream!
Let's be honest, being lucky enough to trial these three products via the beauty heaven trial team is every girls dream!
Uplifting scented moisturiser
I am a huge Eau Dynamisante fan and when ever I wear the fragrance, I always get comments. I purchased the Eau Dynamisante moisturiser to compliment my fragrance.
Smells like a holiday!
I was so lucky to be given the opportunity to trial this product via the beauty heaven trial team.

Clinique moisture surge extended thirst relief. I had a deluxe sample in a recent GWP, and I loved it. I've always been going to buy a full size but never gotten around to it.

Oh thanks that does sound good! Might have to go and check it out!
I adore Biotherm's Aquasource. My skin is normal/dry and I find this very hydrating and I love the feel of the product sinking into my skin - very refreshing!
I have used Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. If your skin is oily Clinique gel moisturizer is very effective for your skin. This gel is care our skin, silky and smooth.
Hydraluron by Indeed Labs is a nice one to try, it has had some great reviews here on Beauty Heaven too! It's nice and light and doesn't leave any greasy residue. It's pretty reasonably priced in comparison to other brands and you only need to use a small amount.
Hydraluron is awesome but it's supposed to be used underneath another moisturiser, I don't find it moisturising enough on its own. I quite like alba Hawaiian oil free aloe and green tea gel moisturiser for summer. It smells really nice and leaves a silky, moisturised feeling behind without any stickiness, and it's paraben free. Another nice light (but not gel) moisturiser is trilogy balancing moisturiser which is light, emollient and leaves no greasy residue.
I received this in my Glosscars prize this year & highly recommend it. Beautiful gel moisturiser from Clinique.

It's great for combination skin, normal, and dry skin types.
I have to agree about Clinique Moisture Surge - so moisturising for a gel. Biotherm Aquasource is ok too but not for very dry skin.
Clinique Moisture surge sounds pretty good! I might have to read some more reviews and go check it out! The Bobbi Brown one isn't in stock online atm, and i'm starting to struggle without a decent moisturiser!
Clinique's dramatically different moisturising gel was my go to product for a while, along with ASAP's soothing gel. Lately however I am a huge fan of ultraceuticals products and I apply the Even Skintone Serum (Mild) after I have cleansed, but before my moisturiser which is the Clear Treatment Lotion. Really soft, has plenty of goodies for your skin to prevent and fight off acne and breakouts and smells really yum! Goodluck :)
I'm a massive fan of Kiehl's ultra facial gel or whatever it's called. It has a long name... I hate that it's in a jar, but I'm almost up to my 3rd one. My skins pretty dehydrated, acne-prone and sensitive but oily at the same time and this is perfect for me.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I ended up purchasing Clinique Moisture Surge (the original one with the super long name) from Myer as i had a gift card, unfortunately i wasn't served by a Clinique SA so i was hoping for some samples, but that didn't happen. So far i love it! It absorbs really easily, and my foundation went on better than ever with that added moisture! And in comparison to the other ones i was going to purchase it is heaps cheaper for the same amount!
I have to agree with Essie, Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturiser is a very light gel-like texture. I use it almost everyday; a great prod. I haven't tried out their Moisture Surge one though, glad you are enjoying it Imi11!
I am glad you found a product you are happy with. I was going to suggest Hydraluron and/or Cliniques Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. Next time, if possible, it might be worth waiting for the Brand's SA. They know the range and discuss whether the product you are interested in is suitable or if something else from the range might be more suitable. Plus they often give you a mini facial or make up in the chair depending on how busy they are AND you get samples ;-)
Cliniques gel moisturiser is pretty good
Hello beauties. I'm terribly sorry to hijack this thread, but it seems to be the closest thing to what I need to ask. For some reason, BH is not letting me start a new topic, which is what I'm really needing to do, so I hope you can forgive me to trying to find answers by asking here!
I'm after some advice for skincare for my daughter, who is 11. Her skin has just started to become a little oily along the T-zone, with a few pimples starting to pop up. I don't think rinsing her face every morning is enough anymore, but I'm not sure what cleanser to start her on. I noticed that Olay has a new range - Fresh? or something like that? I love the Olay products myself, and wanted to know if that one was appropriate for tweens/teens. Also, would she need to moisturise at this age?
If there is a way to post this as a new topic, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Otherwise, again, I apologise for hijacking this thread, but I was hoping for some feedback from you beauties here :). xx
Hi Slinki, when I started using skin care products (I think I was probably about 12), I used the Clean & Clear trio pack you can get from Big W which has a foaming cleanser, toner and moisturiser. I found these products to work really well for my skin and battling those first break outs some girls seem to get when they reach that age. Neutrogena cleansers such as the Morning Burst cleanser is a very good one as well which really freshens the skin. Everyone has different skin though, so it's hard to judge exactly what products are good and suited to her. I hope this helps though!
Hi Slinki, to be honest I've found that a lot of the products targeted towards oily skinned teens are really drying and skin starts overproducing oil to compensate. Personally I really like Dr Lewinn's deep cleansing lotion because it's the only cleanser that doesn't leave me with that slightly tight feeling afterwards. I think using moisturiser from a young age is a great habit to great into, especially as oily skin isn't as oily when it's hydrated.
As for starting a new topic, the BH ladies have made it so that it can only be done during business hours in order to discourage spammers.
I give a thumbs up for Clean & Clear - my teenage son is (finally) using the trio I bought him & told me the other day he likes the toner.
His skin is looking really clear & healthy. He had what you'd call moderately oily skin, with the odd rare breakouts. This range isn't harsh, it's just a good foaming cleanser, mild toner & very lightweight oil-free moisturiser. I think I paid $10 for the whole set on an online special.
Just make sure that what you do start to use isn't too harsh. And maybe buy a blemish spot treatment / gel, for times she has any breakouts.
Long-time acne sufferer here. I actually get quite bad acne - those sore, blind pimples (cystic) on my chin. Mine is under control with prescription products. I am 100% clear with a combination of Retrieve gel and birth control pill.
The absolute best acne treatment program you can buy in Priceline is Avene's Cleanance range. It is gentle and brilliant. I actually cleared my skin with this before I went on the prescription stuff. (Ultimately for me, the results were not long lasting). Avene's ingredients are backed by solid research too. You pay a bit more for it but the quality is there. You can buy a starter kit that contains the cleanser and Cleanance K which is your treatment product: http://www.avene.com.au/products/cleanance-acne-prone-skin-value-pack
The gel cleanser is great. Your daughter will love it. She can use it morning and night if she likes. I tend to just cleanse at night though.
Cleanance K is interesting and very effective. PLEASE be aware that her skin may get worse before it gets better. Stick with it for a month. Seriously. This is because of all the active ingredients in there. It contains some great acids for the skin but when you first start, it will purge all the gunk in her pores to the surface. I would use this only on areas of her face that break out. I would also advise she use this just at night and try a light lotion with SPF during the day. I would recommend this Biore one for her as it is beautiful and light: http://www.biore.com.au/nourishing-care-products/nourish-moisture-lotion-spf15
Something to remember is that the life-cycle of your average pimple is about 6 weeks. So this is about how long you should stick with a product to see if it is working. Unfortunately with acne/pimples, skincare treatments are trial and error. If your daughter's skin gets worse, don't leave it too long, get her to try other options. She can see a GP about a dermatologist referral or she could even try Blue Light therapy which is offered at a lot of beauty salons. Blue LED light therapy is a really interesting one - the light kills bacteria that causes acne. It's well worth researching if you are looking for a gentle, non-invasive treatment.
Wow.. thank you all so much for responding! Your advice is fantastic, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I didn't start using a cleanser until I was in my mid-teens, and didn't use a moisturiser until I was 18!! And even then, it was just a pure aloe-vera gel. I guess my point is, my mum didn't help me out with this stuff, and I don't want to do the same to my daughters, but I had no idea of what is good and what should be avoided.
To chunky.monkeys, thank you for letting me know about how to post a new topic - I had no idea! I'll keep that in mind for next time (I still feel so bad for hijacking this one!). x
I'm a big fan of Hydrance Aqua Cream-In-Gel. Pricy, so always wait for discount.
