We're interviewing an expert on everything there is to know about Botox and fillers.
So what niggling questions do you have about Botox and fillers you've always wanted to be answered.
Let me know in the forum below.
Well I've always wanted to know if there is any evidence that botox is preventative. I am aware that it wears off in 3 months average and you need to get it done again,so what's the point? Aka does it really prevent wrinkles
Are either of them permanent when it comes to lips and is there damage caused by the fillers if they get removed? I would like to know the exact process from beginning to end just out of curiosity and side effects :)
My friend got fillers / injections her lips once, they got all infected and it went into her blood. I'm sure this is rare but it put me off for life.No way. She was so sick.
I have another girlfriend who got botox and also got sick in terms of vomiting fevers etc. How common are these ? I'm sure they are rare
Both of these friends went to.qualified well known professionals.
I volunteer too du and since we are over 40 and both have birthdays in June (I am 45 this year are you?) I wish someone would be very kind and treat us both :)
I know that fillers aren't permanent and won't do anything to the face long term, so how does that work? It wares off right?
What is the average age you see people coming in to get botox? i’m 23 and feel like i’d already like some things “tightened”
is it true that getting botox in your sweat glands can stop you from sweating? is this true? or should only be done if medically needed?
how long do lip fillers take to wear off?
botox in sweat glands is true, it is injected in some patients that takes medication with sweating/ drooling as a side effect.
It is not covered by the Medicare using normal way, but if you qualify it will be covered. Hope that helps.
I know because we used to service Disability SA.
Botox is also good for tight jaws (me) but again, expensive and not covered by Medicare or health cover.
I too would be concerned of long term effects - even for medical as opposed to cosmetics reasons.
Known long term side effects is what I am curious about
Would fillers give more wrinkles in long term because of the all the added volume?
I want to know how to separate the medically trained and those bogus beauticians with a needle.
I would be looking for a degree. A doctorate, any specialist I've seen displays their degree in the surgery. I've not had botox or fillers.
that would be a fair comment, except for the fact that I have seen quite a few bogus degrees hanging on the wall (not in Australia yet , but overseas...)
Substances used for fillers, everything that goes in the formula. As the stuff gets re-assimilated into the body, it is important to know what we are assimilating.
Does the skin stretch with time when fillers , let's say in lips, are worn for period of time, so they have to be injected indefinitely (does skin stretching cause stretch marks around lips)
Botox or Dysport. Which one is better in the long term. What is Dysport? What kind of formula?
As Duality put it: if you need a guinea piggy ...hello (ᵔᴥᵔ)
I have heard somewhere that you can get some fillers injected through tear duct to help with dark circles and sunken eyes. Is that true? If so want to know what the procedures are ?
I’ve read there are products you can use or things you can do to increase longevity of botox and also things such as excessive exercise which can decrease the longevity of Botox. Is this true? I read an article where an actress had ‘Botox sprinkles’ (smaller amounts of Botox injected for a subtle effect). Is this a thing?
I want to know why the cost hasn't come down. I have had to put mine on hold because it cost me $350 per session.
My question would be what kind of ongoing testing and audits are in place within the industry to ensure providers are looking after patient safety - not just now but in the long term as well. Remember how we thought solariums were totally safe and then we found out they weren't? Same with breast implants and other cosmetic procedures.
I understand that nothing in life is guaranteed and sometimes we can only go on the best information we have at the time, but as consumers it would be reassuring to know that thorough research and testing is rigorous and ongoing as safety should always be the first priority.
Can you have it done in your forehead but still be able to move your eyebrows?
Some people that have it done are all smooth but they have really deep wrinkles close to the eye and underneath so obviously they can't inject too close to the eye. Does being paralysed everywhere else create extra stress on other areas that they can't inject?
I still would give it a go, lol.
Great questions. Thanks for putting them forward! x
When is the article coming out Kirsty I can't wait to read all about it?
I would have it done I am just not sure how much it would cost and I don't want to be too frozen.
I'm not sure when it will be coming out but hopefully in the next month.
Look forward to reading!! Yet to try Botox and fillers and always say never say never but this is something I’d like to be well informed about!!
I wonder if years down the track there will be research and find that this all has devastating affects we didn’t know about! Too scared to try
