We all love samples but how do you all store your samples and remember to use them?
With the new year right round the corner and a low buy resolution i know i possibly can't keep, i started storing my samples in a tea box.
I forget to use a lot of mine and end up thowing them out because they've expired.
I have some in a small makeup purse. I have been taking one out at a time and leaving it on the benchtop next to the rest of the stuff I use on a regular basis, having it sitting there reminds me I need to use it up.
I keep mine in a little zipper pouch type thing and I honestly forget to use them majority of the time and they end up in the bin because they're expired. I like your idea with the tea holder box - it's a bit more 'in your face'.
Such a cute way of storing samples! I keep mine in a plastic zip lock bag!
Thanks! initially i was using the box to store essential oils but that got too full then thought hey i could stack my satchel samples:D
I keep mine in a Tupperware container under my bed (where some of my stash lives).
I also store them from "newest to oldest" so I know which I got wear. I've been trying to use 5 sachets per week to get them under control (method to my madness, but items that won't clash with each other like a body lotion / primer etc because I don't like to try to many new items on my face at once).
I also give a bunch away (with other goodies), for instance when sending mates a package I send them brands they like/looking to try.
That is a clever way of storing samples mrsjtan. I’ve stopped using samples snd untried skincare for the moment. I don’t want an outbreak from using a product that doesn’t agree with my skin at the moment. For now I’m sticking with my tried and true products. After Christmas I’ll make an effort to get through some of my samples.
I store my samples in separate makeup bags and try and group them into types ie cleansers, masks, moisturisers etc
I keep mine in a lidded box but im horrible about using them. I always think that they will be handy to use if im travelling but I dont get to travel that often and therefore never use them. Mostly when I do travel its for an extended time and little sachets are just not big enough. I tell myself often that I should make September Sample month and just use a bunch of samples but that never happens. :( Im struggling with my sample use. Thats as far as sachets are concerned. Samples in small tubes or bottles are a little different and I love using them but again i often hold on to them for travel and do take them with me when i venture to the US. Sadly my travel has come to an end for the moment with my carers duties but in time I might be able to get back to some travel adventures.
It’s a great idea having one big box for your samples though so you know where everything is. I currently have like three small boxes plus a bunch of samples I’ve collected just in random places over my bedroom and through my bathroom drawers... I’m also terrible about using them. I want to save them for when I go away, but I hardly ever go away so they never get used... it’s a vicious cycle.
I hear you CaitMay hey at least I will get to use some next year when I have my trip to Queenstown :D
I store mine in an acrylic holder I got from Muji and they sit in my bathroom cabinet. If I don't store them in full view then I forget I have them. Out of sight out of mind!
Same here Janefre, I need everything to be visible.
That’s so clever mrsjtan! Mine are stored in zip lock bags lol. I wouldn’t mind getting a clear acrylic lidded box to store them in. Might look into available options!
love clear acrylic storage!
I store lots of stuff in clear acrylic boxes. I have a 4ft tall storage cabinet behind swing-out bathroom mirror—great idea, but it only has two shelves (which are 7cm deep). Clearly designed by someone who had tall deodorant cans only—so much wasted space.
So I have a series of stackable clear acrylic boxes ($2.80 from Daiso, various shapes and sizes) stacked 3 wide and 3 high on each shelf.
Great for keeping things neat and tidy, findable, and making much better use of the poorly designed space.
Thanks for the tip MGR. I might check out the options at Daiso
i had no idea daiso have them. Will need to check it out
I keep samples next to my regular skin care products. If I'm curious about one of the samples, I will use it and review it for BH. This mostly applies to deluxe sample tubes where I can use a sample for enough time to get an initial impressions opinion - for example, 10mL size. Sometimes I review sachets of samples, but it depends on if there is enough product in it for review purposes.
I do not review all deluxe samples. Recently I tried a few Dermalogica deluxe samples and after trying them, I couldn't think of anything helpful to say, so I didn't review them.
Sometimes a well-written review for a sample can be much more helpful than a poorly-written review for a full size product.
I have just given my local Share the Dignity coordinator (a charity for women escaping domestic violence) my unused samples. She said that she gives them to someone. I can't remember who this someone is, but she said that these sachets are given to women living on the streets, people that don't have easy access to a shower etc.
I buy lots of deluxe samples for natural-based skin care/makeup products and I try to review them when I can. Firstly, I paid money for them. Secondly, some of the smaller natural-based brands on BH that aren't as well-known do not get so many reviews on BH compared to more well-known brands such as Trilogy, Sukin, A'kin etc.
That's a good idea! Mine a a bit all over the place! Some in my bathroom draw, others in a zip pouch haha
I store mine in an old makeup case in my bathroom vanity. I then use them for travel or, as was the case recently, a hospital stay. So much better than lugging around full sized items.
I use little baskets from The Reject Shop... That way you can store bottles of things too...
I use the box that Mecca orders come in to store mine. I use these boxes for lots of things. They are so handy.
I got this in a pack along with a couple of other products. The natio rose range is lovely and this was no exception. The cream is lightweight and absorbs quickly.
Super in love with the BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector, it ensures that your skin is super hydrated throughout the day.
I have never been one to use an under eye corrector before applying concealer and I am questioning how I did my make up before this!
