HELP!..I'm really over just one of my finger nails...it's split and flakey down one side & sometimes can get sensitive as it becomes thinner?? your comment would help me ..suggestions on rectifying this little problem?? : )
Moisture, moisture and moisture, apparently the nail gets damaged even before we get to see it while it is still under your skin, and the nail techs that I have talked to said you have to keep your hands and nails constantly moisturised. I am blessed with sensitive nails as well as not even knowing that they were dry, but I was ensured by two different nail techs that this was my problem. So I have started on a huge treatment plan involving rubbing cuticle oil on my nails as often as I can remember, same again with Sweet Almond Oil, this is great for hands and nails, always wear gloves for washing up and apply a thick hand balm on my hands at night before bed. I am also avoiding any of the harsh drying chemicals that are found in many nail polishes, particularly the nail hardening products as they told me this will make the nail thin out even more. The last thing I was suggested to try was a protein nail treatment, so I have gotten some Orly Nail Defense and am currently going to see how I get on with that, fingers (including nails, lol) crossed that it all turns out, I am so over having peeling nails :(
My nails are horrible and dry and splitting at the moment too, and I've been trying to massage cuticle oil into them every morning and night, and hand and nail cream during the day - but I just keep forgetting!
I suspected that some of my nail polished were making my nails worse so thanks for confirming that melemko, I'll steer clear of them! Do you know of any nail polishes that are good / not bad for nails though?
Yes there are heaps of them, some really good too like Zoya :) If you Google natural nail polish you will be surprised at how much comes up and there are heaps locally here in Australia as well, I have copied them down for my own reference so I will go find them and post them here for you :)

(a bit cheaper here) http://www.theorganichouse.com.au/category327_1.htm
An Australian Mineral Makeup company, Bellapierre sell their eyeshadow pigments along with a mixing product to make your own nail polish, sounds interesting imagine how many different colours you could come up with?? Unfortunately the catch is its not cheap icon
Here is some more too
$22 (mineral nail polish only four colours though)
$15.95 (Nice colours too)
Safe Nail Polish
$5.85 (This is USD but even with freight it is still cheap)
I find my nails start splitting if I wear nail polish too frequently, nails are naturally porous therefore no nailpolish is going to be as good for you as wearing nothing for a while and letting them recover
Woah! I am in love with this bath bomb.
This is hair treatment that can be used in multiple ways - applying on wet or dry hair, before or after styling. It has an oil blend that includes Maize Oil, Pracaxi Oil, Camellia Oil, Argan Oil .
I've used this on and off for along time. It has been recommended by a lot of makeup artists on Youtube. I wanted to give it a try of course.
