How do i stop biting my nails and picking at them, for a while after i got braces on my teeth i stopped but i've started doing it again and a just can't stop, ant advise?? xx
Um, I'd have to say...a bit of self discipline wouldn't go astray
Trikk3, let me guess, you weren't a nail bitter where you? Or maybe you have impossibly amazing self discipline.
Chewing your nails is so hard to stop! I was a chewer till maybe last year. I tried Stop That! which you just apply like nail polish then it evaporates and leaves a TERRIBLE taste on your figar nails. It helped my a long the way.
What also helped was painting them, I tended to not enjoy the taste of nail polish, so I didn't bite them again till I had removed it.
But my oldest sister (who has amazing nails now btw) had somebody who would slap their ruler on their desk if they saw her biting her nails. Worked for her. :-D
Good luck with your struggle against nail bighting!
i have heard of that nailpolish lol it has worked for people. i used to chew my nails in primary school but i wanted beautiful nails so i just stopped hehe
I find if I keep mine filed all the time then I don't get any rough edges so to speak, it stops you trying to pick at them if they are smooth, I guess this could help with the biting as well, if you tried it in conjunction with the yucky tasting polish also. Good luck darl.
Yeah, I found it was a vicious cycle. I'd bit my nails and they would get ruff and soft so they would chip and snag then I would bight then again to 'get them smooth'. So keep them filed is a good idea too.
me too lol i do it when ever im nervous.come exam time i've got no nails left.
I bit my nails until i finished highschool, i started going out all the time-which meant dressing up and looking nice and then working, so could afford to buy nice things, only to look at my nails and realise how truly ugly it was, and i just stopped. Just a tiny bit of self discipline seriously was all it took.I'd go to bite, then i'd think....eeeewww ugly...so i didnt bite.ummmm was pretty simple.
theres a polish at priceline u can get that u paint on and every time u touch ur nails with ur mouth its tastes bad
An easy way to stop an old habit is by forming a new and different habit to distract you from your old habit! Say like, every time you go to bite your nails, stop and comb your fingers through your hair to detangle it instead. Try and make your new habit a positive one and you'll be well on your way!
I used to bite my nails, and none of the "stop and grow" formulas ever helped. I have really short fingers and when I have longer nails, my hands look so much nicer. What stopped me was good old fashioned will power (combined with regularly caring for my nails- filing them, buffing them, polishing them etc).
my daughter was a nail chewer - when she was tiny ( about 2) I even caught her chewing her tornails - yuck! (LOL). Anyway we tried a number of things - which didn't work - but STOP did - it was great and thank goodness - she doesn't chew anymore
I keep nail polish on, as I don't want to chew nails while they look so pretty, mind you though it is extremely hard to do when I'm watching the footy, lol, so I have resorted to covering up my eyes instead, lol.
mum says to pee on them ugh i wouldnt though lol yuck i think lemon juice is meant to help
I dont really bit my nails, only when they rip or something. You can buy one of those nail polishes that make your nails taste disgusting!
I would definitely say keep them filed and painted. When they look nice, you dont want to bite them. Although my bf uses "stop 'n' grow" which makes them taste REALLY bad. The only down side to it is that it can rub on off your food if you arent carefull
I have never bittten my nails ! I use a nail clipper after having a shower to soften my nails. It's simple and easy!
I was fortunate enough to receive the Weleda Skin Food Light moisturiser at the Glosscar Marketplace event, and get the opportunity to trial it on my skin.
I love that the Toni&Guy StrengthPlex Bond Repair Shampoo is infused with Australian harvested Kakadu Plum.
Although my skin is a bit dry and quite sensitive, I have a few enlarged pores (mainly on my nose), and I occasionally have the odd whitehead, so I was looking forward to trying this product; I lov
