This sunscreen was such a find. Suncare is so important and with the Australian sun, you need something super reliable, with a high spf count.

This sunscreen is perfect for the face, leaving no white glow that you get from almost anything else that is 50 plus. The smell is really pleasant and light without that standard sunscreen smell.

You can apply make up over this and it will blend well. I highly recommend for great sun protection without the sunscreen feels.

I have super oily skin so I've been on the hunt for a good sunscreen I can use on my face. After doing some research, I decided to give this a try and I'm very glad that I did!

The product is very lightweight which is great. You can feel it when you put it on, but my skin still feels like it can breathe underneath whereas other sunscreens made my face feel like it was suffocating.

You do need to let it dry before putting anything else on top and it does make my skin a little shinier than without it but it's a small price to pay to make sure you're protected from both UVA and UVB rays.

It seems pricey for such a small amount but a little goes a LONG way. Just make sure you give the bottle a good shake before using it as I find mine has separated if I leave it for too long.

I love this sunscreen and use it every summer and have the complete confidence that my skin is protected, hydrated and my pores aren’t being clogged and thus causing breakouts.

Many other sunscreens have been too heavy on my face and caused me to break out or they have stung my skin. Not la Roche possay though! It’s so lightweight that the consistency is literally like milk, it absorbs perfectly, doesn’t smell, doesn’t go greasy throughout the day and is a perfect base for makeup too- bonus!

This is my go to facial sunscreen and forever will be.

Finally found a sunscreen which is light and non greasy with great coverage of spf 50.
Compact bottle shape and light. Simple packaging. Easily pop into my handbags without taking a lot of space. With the higher spf it can last longer under the sun and great for when travelling. Easy to pour out , spread easily and absorb by skin easily. Did not feel uncomfortable throughout the whole day after using it. Definitely a new favourite which I will buy for a long term. Will recommend it to a lot of people who suffers from oily skin too as this one left my skin matte throughout the whole day and my make up still perfect intact.
Great for people with sensitive skin too as I let my sister who suffers from sensitive skin and her skin feels great even after applying it without any after effects.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra-Light comes in a 50ml rectangular twist cap lid orange and white colour bottle. It fits prefectly in my hand bag to carry when out and about when you need a top up.

Its white and light in texture, it also doesnt have a strong scent or fragence which is great and more suitable for me. It is a light and runny which it does feels more like a moisturiser that feels light on my face. It is smooth and easy to apply as it just glids on all over my face it doesn’t feel greasy at all and it absorbs quickly. I have an oily t zone it didnt seem to make it look for feel oilier than usual.

When dispensing, shake before use and squeeze slowly as lot will come out due to it being liquidly in consistancy. You dont to use a large amount approximately a size of a 20 cent amount will be enough to cover my whole face. I like how its SPF 50+ knowing it will protect my face from the UVs and hopefully minimising the sunspots.

I found this product to be great i have sensative skin and all other sun screens react to my face but this one didnt i found it to be calming for my skin. It was smooth to apply and spread well and was easy to apply i found this product to be a great base layer for me to apply before my makeup and i have had great comments about my skin since using it. I found the bottle to be compact to it easily fit in my make up bag and the packaging looks smart too not bulky at all. i would recommend this product for people with sensative skin who want a sun screen that does not feel oily once applied and makes your skin smooth. I wish i had discovered this product earlier i could have saved money from all the other products i have tried.

It is an SPF liquidy cream SPF50 face sunscreen, that is light and watery.

The little rectangular tube it comes in is very elegant, easy to shake and has a precise spout-like head.

Unfortunately I wasn’t as pleased with what was inside as I’d imagined I’d be. I’d tried a few little free sample tubes of this which were free with
other La Roche Posay products, and had really liked it the few days I wore from these.

Using this time around though, the first thing I was struck by, was the high alcohol content. I could smell it when I squeezed it onto my hand for application, and then it actually stung the days after my AHA treatment nights. (Not a strong AHA or peel or anything, just light night cream.)

The texture wasn’t as brilliant as I remember either, although it is light it is a bit greasy, though it does absorb - not great if you need to slap makeup on the top and go quickly in the mornings.

That being said, it acts as a good base for makeup and hasn’t dried my skin out. I do love the very high sun protection factor too, and know in terms of consistency and grease-oil situations you can do a lot worse with a sunscreen that protective.

I read a few other reviews though which said how a little goes a long way, but that concerns me as the rule of all sunscreen is - it needs to be applied liberally. I’d very much doubt that those using a 5c piece amount would actually be protecting their face from their sun to the degree specified, which I suppose is a caveat for all sunscreen use. And, when you use more, it isn’t as great of a finish.

That all being said, I am mainly comparing to a daily face product of SPF30 & I know there are some things you need to sacrifice for the higher level SPF.

Definitely doesn’t live up to the gold standard that my other La Roche Posay products have been, but it certainly has advantages for a super high sun protectant for the face.
I would replace my LRP BB before purchasing this, and would go through the tube quite fast for the price point.

Might win more for oilier skins where the alcohol might help rather than hinder.

I love La Roche-Posay and I love this product.
Most other sunsreens make me break out, get oily skin and I sometimes have allergic reactions to them. But not with this sun screen.
It soaks in quickly to your skin and leaves no oily residue behind. Its runny and easy to apply and the bottle size is great for travelling.
I used this while on holidays in Queensland and also when I got home to the Mid North Coast New South Wales, and it worked amazingly in both areas, at the beach, by the pool or just out and about.
As someone with very sensitive skin, I typically shy away from sunscreen of any type but this is a really big game changer for me.
As someone who is at a high chance of getting melanoma, this product makes me feel better about being out in the sun when the UV is higher. I still am a huge beliver in other suncare practices but being able to wear sunscreen puts my mind at ease.

I was excited to be included in the trial for this product - my work means I spend a majority of the day outdoors, and so adequate sun protection is an absolute priority for me!
I was very impressed with the packaging - a cute and compact bottle with a tapered nozzle and securely sealed screw lid. The ingenious inclusion of a shaker ball in the bottle ensures all the UV filter ingredients are properly combined within the product.
The product itself is a white fluid with a consistency similar to pouring cream, with no discernable smell. The tapered nozzle ensures you can easily control the flow when dispensing the product. Being a fluid, a little goes a long way and I found a 10c sized amount was enough to cover my face and neck.
I have a habit of mixing a little tinted moisturizer into my face sunscreens, and I continued that during this trial. It mixed beautifully and provided a sheer coverage to give me a nicer canvas prior to makeup. But I know from all the other reviews that even without a tint, this product does not give any white casting.
The product was smooth and easy to apply - but I did not enjoy the consistency of the product on the face when first applied (my only negative). It had a strange sort of thick, wet feel to it - it's hard to describe, but sort of like when you mix cornflour with water?? I have very oily skin and prefer products that absorb really quickly and leave my skin feeling dry and matte (an impossible ask of a sunscreen product, I know! Especially one offering 50+ protection). But this feeling soon faded as the product sank into my skin.
My usual morning routine is to shower, apply skincare (including sunscreen), then go have breakfast (allowing everything to absorb properly) before applying makeup. I recommend this routine as it ensure the sunscreen has fully absorbed. It then felt comfortable on the skin, and I experienced no sensitivities when using it.
My makeup (mineral powder) applied smoothly and evenly - and best of all, no balling!
I did experience some shininess after a few hours - but I have very oily skin and would experience some shine regardless of what product I was using (even if I was using nothing at all!).
There is no question about sun protection - I didn't experience any burning or redness even when exposed to the sun for several hours. The product does not claim to be water resistant, so I would use an alternative product for days at the beach or pool.

I highly recommend this product and would consider purchasing again - although the packaging appears small I think it will last a long time, and the quality of the product makes it good value.
