Tips to get you through your period

“My tips are to carry lots of pain relief to take the edge off of cramps...And of course, make sure your handbag is well stocked with your supplies - the last thing you need is to get to the bathroom and realise you've run out of tampons/pads.” – Missteaaddict
“I always try to avoid sugar cravings, I get them real bad. I find its good to always have sugar-free jelly on hand, and sugar-free gum. Plus, fruit is really good as well, as the natural sugars will help to satisfy your sweet tooth.” – Discomilk
“I drink less coffee around this time and take extra fish oil and evening primrose oil a week before the PMS normally starts, it helps with the symptoms like being emotional and bloated and things like this, it helps ease the cramps a little too, and I eat a banana a day too as I was told that it has vitamins in them to help also.” – Animal Lover

ZINC - it's a great nutrient to take just before and then during your period - especially if you get bad cramps. A recent study backs this up to, showing it's positive impact in adolescents
A few other things to think about...take a read of my recent blog post - http://blog.naturalchemist.com.au/zinc-for-period-pains/

Wow, the banana tip is great, I might try that sometime! Exercise ( whatever works for you when you're on your period ) to make you feel fit & stop those emotional 'I feel so blah' days, plenty of water to help feeling so bloated all the time & fruits to combat the sugar cravings is great too!

Unfortunately, I always dread that time of the month. I sometimes get cramps so painful I vomit. I usually either try exercise, a warm heat pack, anti inflammatory medication (Advil) or sleeping it off.

I usually use a hot water bottle and curl up in bed and go to sleep- if I'm lucky to be at home. But usually, I get my period on a monday morning, so I just make sure I am prepared with all my goodies (you know whats) and take a pain tablet and just get thru it. Sometimes, I do treat myself with either chocolate or a magazine just because I'm going thru it.

I make sure I get in early with pain relief tablets, otherwise it gets out of control.
