Minimise detox side effects

Most people make one fatal mistake when they detox. They do too much, too soon. A sudden change in your diet can send your body’s responses into overdrive, leading to an abrupt flood of headaches, mood swings, skin issues and even nausea. Avoid all the nasty side effects of detoxing by easing into your diet change. Don’t have a junk food ‘binge’ the night before and start adapting to a healthy living routine by gradually cutting back on alcohol, sugar and caffeine in the fortnight before your detox, it will give your body the time it needs to adjust.

Hummm I have never been on a detox... I am not sure if I could ever be bothered. I have cut down on sugar years ago, I don't drink, don't smoke.... Just eat too much...

Aren't detoxes meant to be harmful. Everything in moderation. My diet isn't that bad and I don't drink alcohol or caffeine or smoke so I probably don't need to detox anyway.

Detox as in fasting never works for obvious reasons, but lowering food intake or switching to healthy foods or just fruit for a few days gives you a renewed appreciation when you go back to regular and gives you the kick you need to make your meals smaller - which I think is my main problem!

I've thought about having a detox before and will keep these reminders in mind when I do.

Useful tips, but I think that good regular eating habits work better than a detox.

I'm about to go on one now (Not coz of New Year...though I'm sure thats the main reason most are), to prep for getting back into my job. I don't have much caffeine though, and can cut back on alcohol, so hopefully I wont get any rotten side effects.

i have never detoxed before but quite interested in doing it sometime! i'd probably stick to something more than juices, i think fruit and vegetables should be included to avoid excess fatigue and starvation though

I'm not really a believer in detoxing, I think you just need to eat healthy, our body detoxifies itself.
