My Invisalign Journey: Getting started
I’m excited to finally share that I’m getting Invisalign treatment! I’ve wanted to straighten my teeth for years, but a number of factors held me back. I’ve decided now to take this journey, and we’re going to document the process, so you can see what’s involved and how it works.
Being a beauty editor is a pretty great job. I get to attend loads of amazing events, and my day-to-day consists of the latest and greatest beauty products. I love my job, but there are certainly challenging aspects to it, particularly being in front of the camera on a regular basis. While shooting videos is fun, it also brings out my biggest insecurity — my teeth.
I know my teeth aren’t disastrously crooked, but they’re not as straight as I’d like them to be and I’ve always felt self conscious about smiling. I’ve wanted to get them straightened since I was a teenager, but was put off by the cost and didn’t want to wear braces that were visible. That’s why I’ve chosen Invisalign treatment — it's virtually invisible, which means it won't disrupt my work on camera or my lifestyle. I also found that many practices offer payment plans for Invisalign treatment, which means you don’t have to pay for the full cost of treatment upfront.
The first step in my Invisalign treatment was calling the Invisalign Smile Concierge. It was great to talk to someone who could explain the process to me, and they even managed to book me in for a free assessment! At my appointment, the Doctor used an iTero scanner, which produced 3D digital images of my teeth and a simulated outcome of what my new smile would look like at the end of treatment. I couldn’t believe how great my teeth could look — I was so excited!
One of the reasons I chose Invisalign treatment is because it offers the most advanced technology for teeth alignment, so I can feel confident in the results. The Doctor created a personalised Invisalign treatment plan, which anticipates the exact movements of my teeth and the duration of my treatment.
Now all I have to do is wait for my Invisalign clear aligners to arrive! I can’t wait to share my Invisalign journey and the progress towards my new smile. Watch my first video above to see how it all began.
Invisalign® treatment is a series of clear plastic removable orthodontic aligners that gently move patients’ teeth. An orthodontist or Invisalign trained dentist will be able to advise whether Invisalign treatment is right for you. You should always read and follow their directions for use. In rare cases, allergies may occur.

I was thinking of getting it by it costs 7.5k no joke, even with the most comprehensive of insurance it only covers 2.5k at most.

Yeah that's about what it cost me. After I did it, then we got my eldest daughter done and then my 2nd daughter had it done! ; 0

It is very expensive for sure but a lot of places offer a flexible payment plan like mine does.

Great video and good luck with the treatment! I remember getting the traditional braces and all those memories of trying to clean all the food out of them!

What I meant...in the 'old days', dentists use to pull out one of the permanent teeth so the rest have more space in the jaw line. I have missing tooth, so the rest could settle bit better....but now my front teeth are not centered, went on one side a bit. looks weird. Now, nothing can be done

I had traditional braces and my kids may need braces and Invisalign might be an option. Love to hear more about your journey and see your before and afters :-)

Great video, Kate. I haven't noticed anything with your teeth as you always have a beautiful smile on camera to me. Looking forward to watching more of these & the process you go through with it all.

I went with traditional braces when I had the choice - Invisalign can be smelly depending on what you eat, with wired braces you can't forget to put them back in or be tempted to take them out when you don't want to wear them for whatever reason/occasion. But I wasn't bothered with having a brace face :-P I know some people can be self conscious of orthodontic treatment.

Good luck with your treatment Kate! I'll be tuning in to see how you go.
I had traditional braces as a teen, but I was able to prevent them from looking too standout-ish with clear colours on my top teeth. I had shocking & crooked teeth growing up, so getting braces for me was worth it. Although I've let my teeth slide a bit since, they're still reasonably straight (although my bottom teeth are beginning to come out of alignment). I still have more dental work to do (e.g. getting veneers for 2 under-developed adult teeth I have), but if I needed braces again I'd perhaps look into Invisalign (although I'm unsure if I'd be a good candidate since I have receeding gums too).

I have heard good things of Invisalign. I had braces as a teenager to correct my overbite. My teeth have always been straight though. More concerned with yellowing now and trying to whiten. Thanks for sharing, the technology has vastly improved from when I got my braces.
