What is cellulite?
Cellulite refers to the dimpled, or ‘lumpy’ skin that occurs when the fat deposits that sit underneath your skin push through the connective tissue and into the skin. There are a number of reasons for cellulite to occur, including poor circulation, decreasing collagen, a change or fluctuation in hormones, genetics,, lifestyle factors and diet.
Where does it usually appear?
It’s said that 80-90% of women will experience cellulite, with the thighs, buttocks, pelvic region and abdomen being the most common area for it to appear.
What does it look like?
Cellulite is most often likened to the appearance of an orange peel, in that the area of skin starts to develop lots of little ‘dimples’ and feels bumpy and uneven. Unfortunately for many women cellulite can also often come hand-in-hand with other issues such as stretch marks and fatty deposits.
Which cellulite treatments actually work?
Regular exercise is a great way to treat and prevent cellulite. It can be difficult to treat cellulite once it’s already formed, but working out regularly will help to make its appearance less obvious. But aside from exercise and healthy eating, there are a few topical options that can also make a big difference. Alpha Keri’s Slimfit range features four slimming serums and creams that are specifically designed to help slim, shape and reduce fat and cellulite from your body. But do they work? According to our members they do! Here’s what they have to sayabout the products…
Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Cellulite Reductor + Slimming Serum
“This product is a lovely and light but nourishing serum that you apply to your hips, thighs and buttocks. I use it at night time after my shower and apply it to those areas that have cellulite and need firming. Used nightly, you will notice a firming and toning effect after about 4 weeks of continued use.” - bh member Shop A Everyday

Alpha Keri Body Slimfit Heat-Activating Slimming + Firming Serum
“I love this product as I apply it before a strength leg session, the heat helps activate the muscles, whilst also helping with the fatty tissue deposits around my bum, hips and thighs. This cream helps me feel the muscle contractions a lot stronger and also increase sweat in these areas of my body to help with lymphatic drainage and water retention.” - kimberley286

Beauty Editor’s tip - dry body brushing in conjunction with topical products
Not only is dry body brushing proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite, but it also helps to boost the lymphatic system and is a great exfoliator. In fact, lightly dry bodying brushing daily can also help to keep a faux tan even and prepare your skin for the next application.

This article doesn't really tell me what in the formulation actually "firms" the skin.

I agree with missfortune8 , I want to believe... Also, I use these creams for a little while and then I get sidetracked by a really nice smelling cream and then it’s to hell with all the benefits- I want to smell nice LOL

I remember using one of those Alpha Keri products (only because I received it in a Priceline bag) and although there was an improvement in the firmness of my skin it didn't last once I stopped applying the cream.
I just exercise and drink plenty of water and don't worry about it.

Yes I remember getting their products in the PL goody bag too. I didn't use it regularly enough but I remember I liked the scent.

I don't understand what is such a fuss about cellulite. Unless you are a model and it's part of your job to look all perfect - it's find to have flaws. Wish we could see each other with same adoration that we show for pets :/

True ,I spent lots of money years ago buying the miracle products that will help with the cellulite. They somehow worked ,combined with exercise ,I noticed a slight improvement, but as soon as I stoped using them ,even for a couple of days ,everything was back to "normal".Never wasted my money on that kind of product since.

I'd be interested if they work but spent a small fortune years ago on Strivectin which did nothing for my cellulite.
