11 ways to improve yourself in 2011 - page 3

The New Year calls for a new you, right? In theory yes, but in reality it’s pretty damn hard to achieve a complete and utter overhaul in the space of one measly year.
So rather than set out to recreate yourself entirely, why not scroll through our list of easy-peasy beauty and lifestyle additions, pick and choose those that take your fancy and make a point of keeping up with them throughout the year. They’re super simple to incorporate into even the most hectic of schedules, and are guaranteed to leave you looking and feeling gorgeous.
#3: Say goodbye to scaly skin
Don’t wait for the start of next summer to discover that your body resembles a croc-skin clutch. Get in the habit of sloughing away those dead skin cells on a regular basis and your body will be smooth and radiant all year round. A twice-weekly body exfoliation will also work to stimulate your circulation and assist in lymphatic drainage so you’ll be helping to minimise stubborn cellulite and bloating too.
We love: Yes to Carrots C the Body Carrot Rich Moisturising Body Scrub, and NP Set Tahitian Vanilla Body Polish.

When summer comes around do you have to do emergency exfoliating before you can sport a skirt?

I do exfoliate regularly as my skin needs it. The main thing I need to do as summer approaches is hair removal and moisturising++++ .

anyone that says they dont have to be lying, except those very very good girls that exfoliate year round. Everyones skin gets scaly over winter unless you are a moisturising machine. Love the sound of the vanilla polish. will definately be giving that a go.

Yes I tend to be lazy in the winter and hide under clothes and pants. I love Clarins body scrub - my fave body exfoliator.

All year round exfoliating my legs is important before wearing a skirt.

I tend to exfoliate all year round - I love a good scrub-down in the shower! I always feel like I've washed properly and I feel fresh without all that dead skin!

I exfoliate my body once a week but sometimes I forget. I don't need to emergency shave because I'm not very hairy to begin with so it's hardly noticeable. I do need emergency exfoliation for my lips, hands and feet, and emergency hydration for my face when a special event pops up and I want to look my best.

I like to do gentle exfoliation every day on my whole body as it is good for the circulation. Not everyday on the face though.

i love exfoliating, and a quick one too, with exfoliating gloves and manicare body brush, plus my exfoliating body wash with beads in it. I dislike that heavy lotion feeling on my skin though, especially under my knee caps

I just bought a cheap pair of exfoliation gloves, my friend that's a beauty therapist advised either do 2 heavy exfoliations a week with the gloves with some nice gel or even exfoliant cream, or what she also said which is what I do is every night I do a light all over with my shower gel. Saves you money and feels so nice.(also i get ingrowns often on my legs and works wonders)
P.S great tip, put the extra effort into areas such as elbows and knees!

Lately I have been slathering on Nature's Organics Natural Skin Expert sorbolene moisture barrier after a shower and haven't needed to exfoliate in ages/ This stuff really makes my skin baby soft for days after. It doesn't feel that different to other sorbolene creams but the effect it has is almost breathtaking for how cheap it is.
PS I have to say the best exfoliator/skin firming treatment (don't laugh) is coffee grounds rubbed into the thighs. There is actually quite a lot of oil in coffee grounds so they moisturise. The only catch is they will trash your bath so this little exercise isn't for the time poor.

I exfoliate every so often, never regularly, emergency hair removal is something I'm always guilty of.

I agree with the emergency hair removal. I often try and get away without removing it an get about in trousers, in fact I think I've worn a skirt once in the past year. I don't often use exfoliators on my body, only on my face, but I dry body brush as I find this more effective.
